UVA Academical Village Map Ilustration.

The University of Virginia Academical Village illustrated campus map is a hand drawn and digitally colored illustration. UVA is one of the eight original Public Ivy universities; it is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States. It was conceived and designed by President Thomas Jefferson and established in 1819. On this illustrated map you can see “The Lawn” - a large green court at the historic center of Jefferson's academic community at the University of Virginia. The Rotunda is a building located at one end of the The Lawn and serves as the cornerstone to the original grounds of the University of Virginia. The Rotunda is one of only 10 UNESCO World Heritage sites in North America.
This image serves as one of two images that are featured in the University’s Map and Guide for visitors. Due to the historic and architectural significance of the University, the hand drawn map had to faithfully showcase the breadth and scope of this important site for wayfinding as well as an architectural rendering.
